The Hardin-Jefferson County Independent School District has filed suit against the Nome resident that it claims failed to pay his property taxes.

The school district claims that defendant Dennis Craig Dunn owes $1,944.06 for delinquent taxes from the 2010-11 year. In addition, he owes a $175 title research fee, according to the complaint filed Nov. 6 in Jefferson County District Court.

“Plaintiff and each taxing unit now have and assert a tax lien on each tract of Property to secure the payment of all delinquent taxes, accrued statutory penalties and interest, and attorney’s fees and costs due thereon,” the suit states.

In its complaint, the school district is seeking a foreclosure of the tax lien and other relief the court deems just.

Shelburne J. Veselka and Keith Treadway of McCreary, Veselka, Bragg and Allen in Round rock will be representing it.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
