A Jefferson County hospital has filed suit against the company that it claims installed a roof in such a way that caused leakage to occur.
Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, also known as Memorial Hermann Baptist, claims it hired defendant Pyramid Waterproofing to remove an existing roof, repair other existing roof structures and install roofs on its building on Strickland Drive in Orange and on College Street in Beaumont.
However, after Pyramid performed its work, Baptist discovered water pools, water damage and leaks on its structures, according to the complaint filed Nov. 7 in Jefferson County District Court.
Because of the defects, the roof had to be replaced, the suit states.
Although Baptist has repeatedly informed Pyramid of its roofing problems, Pyramid has refused to make repairs, the complaint says.
In its complaint, Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas seeks actual damages, plus interest, incidental damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney’s fees, additional damages, costs and other relief the court deems just.
It will be represented by Donean Surratt and Christopher A. McKinney of Orgain, Bell and Tucker in Beaumont.
The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 56th District Court.
