GALVESTON - After she was reportedly injured in an animal attack last year, Deanna Wright has filed a lawsuit.
Recent court documents submitted Nov. 30 before Galveston County District Court allege a pack of dogs belonging to Santa Fe local Debra Wyatt assaulted Wright near Wyatt's residence on Nov. 12, 2011.
The original petition explains that Wright was in the street when suddenly and without warning the canines in question attacked her, knocked her to the ground and inflicted damage to her general body.
It claims the dogs were "at large," unsupervised and without leashes at the time of the supposed events.
Wright says she has spent the last year undergoing medical treatment including surgery and other "painful" procedures for injuries she describes as "serious, substantial and disabling".
Wyatt is faulted for:
- Failing to restrain and control the animals;
- Maintaining ownership of said animals with the propensity for human attacks;
- Failing to warn; and
- Failing to render aid.
Consequently, the plaintiff sues for physical pain and impairment, mental anguish, medical costs and out of pocket expenses.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County 10th District Court Judge David Garner.
