HOUSTON - Katy resident Cheryl D. Ashley has filed suit against McGriff, Siebels & Williams Inc. in response to alleged discrimination based on her disability, age and gender, recent court documents say.

A lawsuit filed Dec. 5 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas claims Ashley experienced the mistreatment in question prior to be terminated from her position as the defendant's senior vice president.

The defendant hired the plaintiff in 1993.

According to the suit, Ashley performed "consistently at an extremely high level" as well as "helped build the company's presence in Houston from 35 to over 200 employees and had become identifiable with the company."

She underwent an operation in 2009 which rendered her incapable of traveling abroad while having no effect on her domestic travels.

Ashley explains that she had noticed the respondent hired people at her level though production was down, stating she "raised questions about this and then the company started advancing bogus performance issues."

The defendant dismissed her on unspecified grounds on July 21, 2011, however, Ashley insists "her disability, age and gender were all motivating factors in Defendant’s decision."

Consequently, the complainant sues for front and back pay, benefits and mental anguish.

Attorney Gregg M. Rosenberg with Rosenberg & Sprovach in Houston is representing Ashley.
