Man walking on roadway sues motorist who hit him

Bridge City resident Darrell Charrier is suing the motorist who struck him while he was walking on the side of a roadway two years ago.

The suit was filed Dec. 13 in Jefferson County District Court and names Leslie Peveto as a defendant.

According to the lawsuit, on Dec. 21, 2010, Charrier was injured while walking on the side of a roadway when Peveto struck him with her vehicle.

The suit does not state where or how the incident occurred.

The suit accuses the defendant of negligently failing to provide the pedestrian with a warning of her intent and failing to wait to the pedestrian cleared the area.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment and lost wages.

Orange attorney Sandee Hart represents him.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
