Thankful for ... football

Longhorns raiders

The annual football game between the University of Texas and Texas A&M University was a Thanksgiving Day tradition for more than 100 years. The rivalry was played every year between 1898 and 2011, until Texas A&M left the Big XII Conference to join the Southeastern Conference.

This year, to keep the tradition of UT football on Turkey Day, the Texas Longhorns will face off against the Red Raiders from Texas Tech University.

The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 28, at Darrel Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

The Longhorns (7-3, 6-1) are in their third bye week of the year and Texas is in a tie for second place in the Big 12 Standings with Oklahoma State. Texas Tech's record is 7-4, 4-4.
