The National Collegiate Student Loan Trust claims a Jefferson County resident has failed to pay back the money she incurred when borrowing money for college.
The Trust filed a lawsuit Jan. 10 in Jefferson County District Court against Kathy Morris and Robert Marshall.
In its complaint, the NCSLT claims it lent money to Morris on July 17, 2006. However, Morris has failed to repay the loan, according to the complaint.
“As of the date of the plaintiff’s original petition, $17,308.11 remained due and owing on the loans,” the suit states.
Although the trust has requested the money from Morris, she has failed to pay the amount owed, the complaint says.
In addition to Morris, the NCSLT names Marshall as a defendant, saying he acted as a guarantor on Morris’s loan, promising to repay the money if she failed to do so.
In addition to the money it says it is owed, the NCSLT is seeking pre-judgment interest, plus attorney’s fees of $3,250, costs, post-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law and other relief the court deems just.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
