HOUSTON - Alleging Senior Living Properties LLC fired her because of her age, Veronica Anderson has filed a lawsuit.
Recent court documents filed Jan. 28 in Houston federal court claim the defendant discriminated against the plaintiff before ultimately dismissing her.
Anderson worked as a license vocational nurse at the defendant's Hearne Health Care Center in Robertson County from Jan. 25, 2006 to July 17, 2012.
The 58-year-old complainant explains that she has been an LVN for approximately 40 years, however, she experienced disparate treatment unlike her younger and less experienced co-workers.
According to the suit, the defendant paid her less as well as passed her over when it came to assigning supervisory positions.
"The defendant treated the plaintiff less favorably in the terms and conditions of [her] employment than its non-protected and similarly situated employees because of her age," the original petition says.
When Anderson launched a complaint, the suit states, the respondent terminated her.
The plaintiff insists she did nothing to bring forth the "ageist conduct."
"The plaintiff's age and her complaint about age discrimination was a motivating factor in the defendant's decision to terminate her employment," the suit says.
Consequently, Anderson seeks unspecified monetary damages.
She is represented by attorney Amen Obas with Amen Law Firm in Houston.
