A Jefferson County woman claims she sustained severe injuries after a driver struck her vehicle while attempting to drive the wrong way down a one-way street.
Shlisa Jones claims she was riding in Leonard Jones’s vehicle, which was traveling southbound in the 7800 block of Anchor Drive on July 15, 2011. Suddenly, defendant Steven Hatfield attempted to make a left turn onto a one-way street and collided with the vehicle, according to the complaint filed March 8 in Jefferson County District Court.
In addition to her severe injuries, Shlisa Jones experienced pain and suffering and incurred medical costs because of the collision, the suit states. Meanwhile, Leonard Jones incurred property damages, the complaint says.
The Jones blame Hatfield for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to apply his brakes, failed to keep a careful lookout, failed to control his speed and failed to drive correctly down a one-way street.
In their complaint, the Jones seek a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.
