A man claims he sustained neck and head injuries after two drivers caused a multi-car pile-up.
Harold Hass filed a lawsuit March 20 in Jefferson County District Court against Jennifer Powers and Johnathan Stewart.
In his complaint, Hass claims he drove west in the 3500 block of Highway 73 when his vehicle was rear-ended.
“Defendants Jennifer Powers and Johnathan Stewart both failed to control their speed and caused the pile-up, which impacted the rear of plaintiff’s vehicle,” the suit states.
In addition to his injuries, Hass incurred medical costs; experienced mental anguish, physical pain, suffering, disability and physical impairment; and lost his enjoyment of life, the complaint says.
Hass blames Stewart and Powers for causing the collision, saying they negligently failed to control their speeds, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to timely apply their brakes.
In his complaint, Hass seeks an unspecified judgment, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.
Clay Dugas and Reggie Blakeley of Beaumont will be representing him.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
