Greyhound Lines is the focus of a lawsuit following an August 2012 automobile collision allegedly caused by one of its bus drivers.
Harris county resident Pamela Maxwell filed suit against Greyhound, Maximino Arellano and Rudolph Mazin Jr. on March 28 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on August 20, 2012, Maxwell purchased a Greyhound bus ticket departing from Atlanta, Ga. While traveling through Port Arthur, the bus driver, Mazin, collided with a pickup truck.
The collision caused a metallic seatbelt dangling from the overhead compartment to thrash about and cause Maxwell personal injury.
The suit alleges Greyhound is liable for Mazin’s negligence, which included failing to yield the right of way, secure objects during transport and keep a proper lookout.
The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages.
Houston attorney Paul Higdon represents her.
Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
