Driver blames woman for causing collision

A Jefferson County woman claims she experienced physical pain and suffering after a Beaumont driver struck her vehicle.

Victoria Marie Meza filed a lawsuit April 2 in Jefferson County District Court against Tanika Shantel Antoine.

In her complaint, Meza claims Antoine struck her vehicle on March 13.

In addition to her physical pain and suffering, Meza incurred medical costs, lost earnings and her earning capacity and sustained physical impairment, according to the complaint filed April 2 in Jefferson County District Court.

Meza blames Antoine for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way, lacked proper control and failed to timely apply her brakes.

In her complaint, Meza seeks a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs and other relief the court deems just.

John Werner of Reaud Morgan & Quinn in Beaumont will be representing her.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Case No. B194-209
