Hobby Lobby Stores has been dismissed from a lawsuit brought by Dessi Boykin, who slipped and fell in a puddle of water while nearing the entrance of the Beaumont store.
As previously reported, Boykin filed suit May 6, 2011, in Jefferson County District Court, alleging the store negligently failed to inspect and maintain its premises.
Court records show that on March 28 Boykin filed a motion for dismissal, stating that no further controversy remains.
That same day, Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, granted the motion, dismissing Hobby Lobby with prejudice.
According to the lawsuit, Boykin was shopping at the Hobby Lobby on Dowlen Road. While walking to the front door, she slipped in a clear puddle of water.
Boykins alleged she injured her hips, legs, lower back and abdomen in the fall.
She was suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
