Office assistant sues employer for not paying overtime wages

SHERMAN - A Dallas County office assistant has filed a lawsuit claiming she was not paid for any hours she worked in excess of forty per week.

Chantel Deal filed suit against Battlin’ T’S Beer Barn and Don Taylor on April 22 in the Eastern District of Texas, Sherman Division.

Deal worked for the defendants from September 2012 through February 2012 as an office assistant. She states that during her employment she worked in excess of 40 hours per week and was not paid for her overtime hours.

The defendants are accused of violating the Fair Labor Standards Act, by failing to pay Deal one and one-half times her regular rate of pay for each overtime hour worked.

The plaintiff is seeking an award of damages for overtime pay, liquidated damages, court costs, interest, and attorney’s fees.

Deal is represented by Charles L. Scalise of Ross Law Group in Austin. A jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge Ron Clark is assigned to the case.
