Settlement reached in electrocution suit against Gulf Coast Machine

A settlement has been reached in a suit against Gulf Coast Machine & Supply, alleging the company is responsible for a worker’s electrocution.

As previously reported, Robert and Jacquelyn Whittaker, representing the estate of Robert Whittaker Jr., filed an application for injunctive relief on May 18, 2012, in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on June 28 a judgment was entered, stating the settlement agreement entered into by the parties is approved.

The petition alleged that on or about May 16, 2012, Whittaker was working at Gulf Coast’s Beaumont facility when he was killed by an electric shock.

The plaintiffs are represented by E. Hart Green of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.

Case No. B192-471
