Woman blames Santa Fe motorist for 2011 head-on collision

GALVESTON - A local woman is pursuing legal action as a result of an alleged two-vehicle accident in Santa Fe back in 2011.

In recent court documents filed July 18 in Galveston County District Court, Celeste Ann

Keith claims that Santa Fe local Anthony Ray Dauphine collided with her the afternoon of July 18, 2011.

The subject wreck took place in the 3500 block of Cemetery Road.

Keith traveled in the southbound lane while Dauphine drove in the northbound lane prior to the alleged incident.

Dauphine was accompanied by someone else while Keith was alone.

According to the lawsuit, the defendant's vehicle veered into Keith's lane and struck her vehicle "head-on."

It further states that the plaintiff sustained severe and permanent injuries as a result of the apparent impact, insisting she did nothing to bring forth the accident.

The original petition faults the respondent for:

  • Failing to keep a proper lookout;

  • Failing to brake;

  • Failing to control the vehicle;

  • Failing to yield to oncoming traffic;

  • Failing to maintain a reasonable speed;

  • Failing to turn the vehicle;

  • Failing to yield the right of way; and

  • Failing to drive in a single lane.

Consequently, Keith seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by attorney Robert V. Shattuck Jr. of Galveston.

Galveston County 10th District Court Judge Kerry L. Neves is presiding over the litigation.
