A woman claims she incurred medical costs after a driver ran a red light and struck her vehicle.
Alonda Jacks-Moorehead filed a lawsuit Sept. 3 in Jefferson County District Court against William Kempf.
In her complaint, Jacks-Moorehead alleges she drove west on Congress Avenue in Houston on Oct. 12, 2012, when Kempf, who was driving south on Hamilton, ran a red light and struck her vehicle.
Because of the accident, Jacks-Moorehead suffered injuries, incurred medical costs, endured physical and mental pain and anguish and experienced physical impairment, according to the complaint. She also lost wages and her earning capacity, the suit states.
Jacks-Moorehead blames Kempf for causing the collision, saying he negligently drove too fast, failed to keep a safe distance between his vehicle and Jacks-Moorehead’s, failed to control his vehicle, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to properly apply his brakes, failed to take proper evasive action, failed to obey traffic rules and drove in such a manner as to pose danger to other drivers.
In her complaint, Jacks-Moorehead seeks actual damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, costs and other relief the court deems just.
