A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims struck her vehicle after failing to yield the right-of-way.
Beulah Mathis claims she was driving south on Rolfe Christopher Drive on Oct. 7, 2011, when defendant Wei Xiong, who was driving west on Oregon Street, failed to yield the right-of-way and struck her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Mathis experienced physical pain and suffering, endured mental anguish and physical impairment and lost her earning capacity, according to the complaint filed Sept. 4 in Jefferson County District Court. She also incurred medical costs, the suit states.
Mathis blames Xiong for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to timely apply his brakes, failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to drive in a safe manner, failed to maintain control of his vehicle, failed to keep a safe distance, failed to take evasive action and failed to yield the right-of-way at an intersection.
In her complaint, Mathis seeks an unspecified judgment, plus interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.
