Sour Lake resident Delano Nelson has filed suit against Beaumont local Lanny Michael, alleging he struck the defendant’s cow with his vehicle.
The suit was filed Sept. 30 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 6, 2012, Nelson was driving his truck tractor on Highway 105 in Beaumont when he struck a cow, owned by Michael, in the road
The collision resulted in damage to Nelson property and caused a loss of business.
The suit accuses Michael of negligently failing to maintain his fences and allowing his livestock to roam freely.
Nelson is suing for actual damages and loss of income.
He is represented by the Beaumont Law Office of Rocky Lawdermilk.
Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, is assigned to the case.
