Sprinkler installer sues for overtime wages

TYLER - A former sprinkler installer has filed a lawsuit claiming he was not paid overtime wages.

David Wilson filed suit against American Fire Protection Group Inc., doing business as Mutual Sprinklers Inc., on Sept. 30 in the Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division.

Wilson worked for the defendant from Dec. 1, 2009, through April 11, 2013, as a sprinkler installer. During his employment, he worked in excess of 40 hours a week, but claims he was not paid overtime wages, according to the lawsuit.

The defendant is accused of violating the Fair Labor Standards Act, which prohibits the denial of overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.

The plaintiff is seeking an award of actual, compensatory, and liquidated damages; interest; court costs; and attorney’s fees.

Wilson is represented by Austin attorneys Charles L. Scalise and Daniel B. Ross.

A jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge Michael H. Schneider is assigned to the case.
