"When der fuehrer says we are de master race,
We heil [razzberry] heil [razzberry] right in der fuehrer’s face.
Not to love der fuehrer is a great disgrace,
So we heil [razzberry] heil [razzberry] right in der fuehrer’s face."
Spike Jones’ 1942 recording of “Der Fuehrer’s Face” was an instant sensation, brilliantly capturing the contempt that Americans felt for the Nazi madman who thought himself superior to -- and destined to rule over -- us common folk.
Hitler and his “master race” were defeated, but the idea of a master race, or ruling class, lives on, even in America. The would-be ruling class in our country is a self-styled intelligentsia, whose defining trait is not intelligence but ideological rigidity – and the arrogance, dishonesty, and violence that always accompany it.
You can spot these high-esteem, low-substance people in our government. They’re the ones who are determined to remake the world even if they have to break it in the process. They’re the ones who are convinced that they know what’s good for us and are going to give it to us whether we like it or not.
But this master race and its current leader are going to be defeated, too. The push-back started some time ago, and it’s growing.
The furor over the overreach of the overlords in the Environmental Protection Agency is just one example. More and more businesses and industries and state governments are fighting back against the diktats of this overzealous agency.
The U.S. Supreme Court recently agreed to hear a challenge to the EPA’s greenhouse gas regulations from Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and 11 other state AGs, who contend that the agency violated the Clean Air Act and the U.S. Constitution by “concocting” its regulations without Congressional authorization.
Abbott said he was “pleased the Obama administration will have to defend its lawless regulations before the U.S. Supreme Court.”
We hope the court invokes the spirit of Spike Jones and gives the EPA the Bronx cheer it deserves.
