Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District files to collect delinquent property taxes

A local school district files a lawsuit to collect delinquent property taxes.

Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District filed a lawsuit on Nov. 1 in the District Court of Jefferson County 58th Judicial District against Jeffrey Wayne Powell, et al., for the collection of delinquent property taxes. 

The plaintiff states it is seeking payment of property taxes and has placed a tax lien on the plaintiff's property at Space 21, Western Acres in Jefferson County and Lots 30 and 57, Western Acres subdivision in Jefferson County, according to the complaint.

The plaintiff is seeking the total amount due of $14,619.59 together with statutory penalties, interest, attorney fees and any subsequent taxes or expenses that may come due.

Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District is represented in the case by Shelburne J. Veselka of McCreary, Veselka, Bragg & Allen P.C.
