GALVESTON - A lawsuit over a September collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck received a new trial date, according to recent court records.

Galveston County Court-at-Law No. 3 Judge Kerri M. Foley issued an order on Nov. 22 granting the joint and agreed motion for continuance in Rovin Mena-Castelan and Ramona Flores-Rodriguez's suit against Gabriela Orozco.

The parties, originally slated to face off in a jury trial set for Jan. 6, 2014, will now go to court in June, Judge Foley's order states.

Mena-Castelan and Flores-Rodriguez sued Orozco in October after she allegedly made an illegal left turn and struck their motorcyle with her 2002 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Claiming they were injured as a result of the wreck in question, the plaintiffs reportedly seek more than $100,000 in damages.

Orozco filed an original answer to their allegations on Nov. 13.

The continuance request, submitted a week later, explains that "there is outstanding discovery that is needed to fairly adjudicate this case and the parties are cooperating to achieve this, but need additional time to complete the necessary tasks."

Attorney Stephen D. Bain of Bain & Barkley in Sugar Land is representing the defendant.
