A healthcare center is being sued after allegedly providing inadequate medical care.
Helen Mencey, as personal representative on behalf of the Estate of Narvis Mencey, filed a lawsuit against Hsmtx/Beaumont LLC, doing business as College Street Healthcare Center, on Dec. 2 in the District Court of Jefferson County, citing health care liability.
The complaint states that from April 13, 2012, until May 22, 2012, Narvis was admitted to College Street Healthcare Center. The estate claims the defendant breached the standard of care owed to Narvis by failing to properly care for her pressure ulcers.
As a result of the defendant's actions, the wounds worsened and became infected, resulting in hospitalization, according to the complaint.
The estate is seeking damages in excess of $200,000 but not more than $1 million and is being represented in the case by attorneys Robert Wharton, Lauren Schultz and Dana Helms of McIver Brown Law Firm.
The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.
