Unoccupied Ford F750 towing a back hoe crashes into BBQ restaurant

Robert Louis Patillo filed suit in the Jefferson County District Court on Nov. 22, naming the city of Beaumont as the sole defendant.

Patillo is suing over personal injuries and damage to his building. According to the suit, on Nov. 29, 2011, he was working inside his place of business, Patillo's Bar B Que at 2775 Washington Blvd. in Beaumont. Patillo claims a city of Beaumont employee failed to set the parking break on a city owned Ford F750 towing a lowboy trailer carrying a track hoe.

Patillo claims the vehicle ran into his building while he was inside, causing personal injuries and damage to his building. Patillo asserts this failure amounts to negligence and the city should be held liable for his damages.

Patillo is seeking an amount in damages within the jurisdictional limits of the court. He is being represented by attorney A. Mark Faggard.

The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.
