Hit-and-run collision causes lawsuit

A Beaumont man sues after being involved in an rear-end collision.

Joseph D. Harris filed a lawsuit Nov. 22 in the District Court of Jefferson County against Alice J. Sparks and a hit-and-run driver, citing negligence and negligent entrustment.

According to the complaint on Nov. 23, 2011, Harris was involved in a rear end motor vehicle collision in the 1600 block of Spur 380, Beaumont.

The plaintiff contends the hit-and-run driver acted negligently, causing injuries and damages. Alice Sparks negligently entrusted the hit and run driver to operate her vehicle, according to the complaint.

Harris is seeking damages more than $100,000, but not more than $150,000, including interest and costs.

The plaintiff is being represented in the case by attorney Jack Todd Ivey of Ivey Law Firm.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
