A deck hand is suing after sustaining injuries while working aboard a vessel.
Joseph Lavon James filed a lawsuit Jan. 6 in the Galveston County District Court against Harvey Gulf International Marine LLC.
According to the complaint, on Nov. 16, James was seriously injured while working as a deck hand for the defendant when he tripped on an uneven walking surface on the deck of a vessel.
The complaint states the defendant was negligent, grossly negligent and negligent per se, which caused the plaintiff to become injured.
James is seeking damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits, plus costs and punitive damages.
The plaintiff is being represented in the case by attorneys Tommy Servos and Ryan H. Zehl of Fitts Zehl LLP.
