Wal-Mart named in slip and fall lawsuit

Deana Hamilton filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Jan. 14, naming Wal-Mart as the sole defendant.

Hamilton says she was at the Wal-Mart in Huntsville, when she stepped in a puddle of liquid, lost her footing and fell.

Hamilton says the liquid was leaking from a product on the shelf and had accumulated in the aisle. She claims that when she slipped on the liquid and fell, she sustained serious injuries to her back.

Hamilton is accusing Wal-Mart of negligently maintaining its store and is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.

She is being represented by attorney James A. Holmes.
