Local woman sues after injuries from bus accident

A Beaumont woman is suing over claims she sustained injuries after a collision with a school bus.


Candace White filed a lawsuit Jan. 31 in the Jefferson County District Court against Tom Campbell III and Lashawnya Campbell, citing negligence.

White claims that on March 19, she suffered injuries when the school bus in which she was riding was allegedly hit by the defendant at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Fairway Street

According to the suit, the defendant failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign, causing the accident.

White sustained injuries to her back, shoulders, head and body.

White is seeking damages, interest and court costs.

She is being represented in the case by Beaumont attorney James E. Payne of Provost Umphrey Law Firm LLP.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
