Man sued after he ran a stop sign, crashed into a vehicle

A woman is suing for injuries she sustained in a car crash after a man ran a stop sign.

Eliet Esparza filed a lawsuit Feb. 7 in the Jefferson County District Court against Carl Harvery, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, on July 10, Esparza was driving her vehicle eastbound in the 500 block of Fourth Street near its intersection with Waco Avenue in Port Arthur.

At the same time, the defendant was driving southbound in the 400 block of Waco Avenue near Fourth Street.

The complaint says as Esparza's vehicle entered the intersection, the defendant allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed into the driver's side of the plaintiff's vehicle, causing neck, back and body injuries.

Esparza is seeking damages of $100,000 or less.

She is being represented in the case by Malachi Daws of The Daws Law Firm.
