A Galveston County resident faces suit for an alleged breach of contract and fraud.

CommunityBank of Texas filed a lawsuit Feb. 10 in the Jefferson County District Court against Randy Jarrell, citing breach of contract and fraud.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff had extended substantial credit to the defendant in connection with Jarrell's business operations. The plaintiff states, in January 2011, the defendant discontinued making payments to CommunityBank due under a Collateral Note.

The plaintiff contends the defendant entered into an agreement with a business partner intending to defraud CommunityBank of Texas' ability to collect under the Collateral Note.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $400,000 and potentially as high as $1,380,000.

CommunityBank of Texas is being represented in the case by James E. Wimberley of McPherson Hughes Bradley Wimberley Steele & Chatelain.
