Don Julio's Mexican Restaurant sued over lease default

A Galveston County management company is suing a restaurant for failing to pay rent.

Inland American Retail Management LLC, as managing agent of MLB League City Bay Colony Limited Partnership, filed a lawsuit March 5 in the Galveston County District Court against SCR Investors I Ltd., doing business as Don Julio's Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, and Sammy Rivera and Froylan Medecio Perez.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 15, 2005, Inland American Retail Management's predecessor entered into a shopping center lease with SCR for more than 174,000 square feet in Dickinson, with Rivera and Perez signing a guaranty of lease.

Inland says on April 7, 2011, a lease extension was signed, but the defendant defaulted in July 2011, and now owes the plaintiff more than $14,890.

Inland American Retail Management is seeking the owed rent.

They are being represented in the case by attorney R. Spencer Shytles of Graham, Bright & Smith PC  in Dallas.
