Texaco, Chevron named in mesothelioma suit

A man's death from alleged asbestos exposure pulls Texaco and Chevron into court.

Mignonne Patterson, spouse of Morgan Patterson, deceased, filed suit on behalf of herself and two children on March 5, in the Jefferson County District Court.

Patterson is suing Texaco Inc. and Chevron USA Inc. for allegedly exposing her husband to asbestos.

According to Patterson's complaint, her husband was employed by Texaco at its Port Arthur facilities. Patterson says her husband was exposed to toxic materials including asbestos while working there. She alleges Texaco and Chevron knew its employees were being exposed to toxic materials, but did nothing to prevent it.

Morgan Patterson died on April 9, 2013, of mesothelioma and colon cancer. His surviving children and wife have filed this suit seeking damages for his injuries.

Patterson is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.

She is being represented by attorney J. Keith Hyde and D'Juana Parks of Provost Umphrey Law Firm PLLC in Beaumont.
