Suit against dealership claims defective truck caused wreck

A faulty car is the basis for a lawsuit which allegedly left the driver injured.

Curtis Meador is suing Ron Carter Inc. in the Galveston County District Court.

Meador claims in his lawsuit, filed on March 7, he purchased a 2005 Chevy Silverado from Ron Carter at 3005 FM 528 in Alvin.

Meador alleges there were markings on the car which indicated the dealership knew the vehicle was faulty.

"Defendant knew the Silverado was defective because it wrote the “WE OWE” slip referencing the steering knuckle at the time of the sale," the suit states.

Meador says that two days after buying the car he was driving in League City when the upper ball joint connected to the steering knuckle broke, causing the vehicle to veer and collide with another vehicle.

Meador says he was using the car for its intended purpose when it just gave out and became uncontrollable. Meador is suing for products liability and negligence.

Meador is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.

He is being represented by attorney Rich Melendez of Houston.
