Fatal auto-pedstrian accident results in lawsuit

A driver who allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian while on the job lands employer in court.


Christina Lopez, individually and as representative of the Estate of Marie Lydia Arredondo, deceased, and on behalf of all wrongful death beneficiaries and Tom Lopez filed suit in the Jefferson County District Court against Efficient Systems Inc. 

According to Lopez's complaint filed on March 10, her mother was struck by a car and later died at the hospital from injuries she sustained in the accident. Lopez says her mother, Maria Lydia Arredondo, was crossing the road at the intersection of Delaware and Concord when she was hit. The accident occurred Feb. 21.

Lopez claims the driver, who was working for Efficient Systems at the time, was not paying attention. Lopez says the negligent driving of Efficient's driver caused the accident.

Lopez is suing for wrongful death on a negligence theory.

Lopez is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.

He being represented by Gilbert T. Adams.
