A lawyer faces suit after allegedly failing to adequately represent a former client.

The Commission for Lawyer Discipline (CLD) is suing Anthony Paul Griffin in the Galveston Co. District Court for the 122nd Judicial District.

The lawsuit, filed on March 13, 2014, accuses Griffin of committing legal malpractice.

The CLD is suing Griffin on behalf of Cynthia Veneges-Jepson who allegedly retained Griffin in 2011 to represent her in an employment discrimination suit. Jepson claims she paid Griffin $5,000 to help her appeal her unemployment decision and sue her former employer for discrimination. According to the suit, Griffin failed to call in to a hearing Jepson had with the Texas Workforce Commission. Jepson says she was forced to face the hearing without the assistance of counsel.

Additionally, Griffin allegedly failed to even file the employment discrimination suit against Jepson's former employer. Jepson claims she asked Griffin to return her $5,000 after he failed to assist her, but he refused so she went to the CLD.

CLD is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.

It is being represented by attorney Karl R. Morgan.
