Slip and fall at Wal-Mart causes lawsuit

Kahn john jr.

Wal-Mart faces a lawsuit by a shopper who claims she was injured because of the store's negligence.

Paula Johnson filed suit in the District Court of Galveston County, 405th Judicial District, against Wal-Mart on March 13, 2014.

According to Johnson, she was shopping at the Wal-Mart located at 6702 Seawall Blvd. in Galveston when she was injured. She states that as she approached the cash register she encountered a puddle of water which caused her to slip and fall, according to the complaint.

Johnson claims she was seriously injured in the fall and has filed suit accusing Wal-Mart of negligence. Wal-Mart failed to maintain the floors in a safe condition, according to Johnson's filing. She claims that allowing the puddle to exist subjected customers to a dangerous condition and amounts to negligence.

Johnson is seeking between $200,000 and $1 million in damages.

She is being represented by attorney John J. Kahn Jr. of Pearland.
