Driver sued after fatally striking skateboarder with his truck

The estate of a Galveston County woman is suing over claims she was killed by a drunk driver.

Albert and Eustolia Delgado, individually and as heirs of the estate of Catalina Delgado, deceased, filed a lawsuit April 22 in the Galveston County District Court against Dennis Duane Sievers, citing wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Catalina Delgado was riding her skateboard outside of the traffic lane on Broadway Avenue in Port Bolivar on June 7, when Sievers allegedly struck her with his truck, causing her death.

The lawsuit states Sievers is believed to have been driving while intoxicated. Sievers is accused of negligence, gross negligence and wrongful death.

Albert and Eustolia Delgado are seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimums, plus costs.

They are being represented in the case by attorney Brenna L. Sanchez of The Dunk Law Firm PLLC.
