A mortgage company is suing a couple after they defaulted on mortgage payment.
Freedom Mortgage Corp. filed a lawsuit April 21 in the Jefferson County District Court against Keith McKinney and Renee McKinney, citing breach of contract.
The plaintiff claims the defendants purchased a home through Freedom Mortgage for $204,025 on Wynden Way in Beaumont on Aug. 27, 2012.
The suit alleges the McKinneys promised to pay the loan in monthly installment with 3.5 percent interest until Sept. 1, 2042.
According to the brief, the McKinneys have failed to pay their monthly installments on the loan since Aug. 1, causing the plaintiffs to seek a public auction of the property or have the loan paid off by the defendants.
The plaintiff is seeking an order of sale -- either foreclosure or public auction -- and court costs.
It is being represented in the case by Houston attorneys Jeffrey B. Hardaway, Mary M. Speidel and Robert L. Negrin of Codilis and Stawiarski P.C.
