Lawsuit is filed in Jefferson County following failed commercial real estate transaction

Breach of contract

A local business and residents are suing, alleging a real estate contract was breached.

Tara Driskell, doing business as Salon Elle, and Dustin Driskell filed a lawsuit May 2 in the Jefferson County Court against Gade Satyanarayana Reddy, citing breach of contract, declaratory judgment, promissory estoppel, common law fraud, statutory fraud and negligence.

The complaint states the plaintiffs and defendant entered into an escrow money contract concerning the sale and purchase of commercial property at 922 S. Twin Highway in Nederland. According to the contract, the plaintiffs provided earnest money to Jefferson County Title Co. with the expectation of a May 1 closing date, according to the complaint. The plaintiffs allege the defendant breached the contract by failing to complete the transaction and for failing to close May 1.

The plaintiffs are seeking declaratory judgments, specific performance, actual damages, exemplary damages, fees, costs and interest. The plaintiffs are being represented in the case by Justin G. Sanderson of Sanderson Law Firm PLLC.
