Man sues couple over High Island property purchase

A man set to purchase property is suing a couple, alleging fraud regarding the purchase.


Robert Keith Downs filed a lawsuit May 21 in Galveston County Court at Law No. 3 citing fraud, negligent misrepresentation and fraudulent misrepresentation. 


The lawsuit states Downs bought property at 1418 Kane Lane, High Island, from the Kents for $75,000 on Oct. 18, 2008. Downs made improvements on the land, but the Kents never conveyed the property title to Downs, according to the complaint.


Downs is seeking quiet title to the property plus damages of $120,000, treble, exemplary and/or punitive damages, plus court and attorney costs.


He is being represented by Kyle L. Dickson of Murray Lobb PLLC.
