Prison bars

A Sabine County inmate is suing multiple correctional officers for denying him necessary medical treatment.

Glen Nobles filed suit June 2 in the Eastern District Court of Texas Lufkin Division against Sabine County, Sheriff Thomas Maddox, Deputy Sheriff George Griffin, Deputy Sheriff Tony Miller, Deputy Sheriff Jane Doe and Deputy Sheriff John Doe.

According to the complaint, Nobles was incarcerated in the Sabine County jail during June and July 2012. During that time Nobles claims he made several attempts to receive needed medication from the defendant officers for a condition he has which weakens his immune system.

At each request, Nobles alleges he was denied medication and suffered severe abdominal pain and mental anguish until he required hospitalization, the suit states.

The defendants are accused of gross negligence and malice for denying an incarcerated person necessary medical treatment.

Nobles is seeking $1 million in actual damages and $1 million in punitive damages, plus costs.

He is being represented by attorney Steven R. Walker.
