A Jefferson County man is suing over claims an undiagnosed staph infection led to paraplegia.

Michael and Patricia Milson filed a lawsuit June 3 in the Jefferson County District Court against Dr. Nadeem Malhi, Dr. Muniru Adeniyi, Dr. Keshava Reddy, Dr. Nidal Buheis, Dr. Elias Ntsoane and Dr. Michael Doiron, citing gross negligence.

According to the complaint, the defendant doctors failed to diagnose and treat Michael Milson's staph infection from an IV site on June 16, 2013, while he was hospitalized in The Medical Center of Southeast Texas.

The complaint states doctors treating diabetic patients like Milson should be extra cautious of this infection and the lack of a diagnosis led to Milson developing an epidural abscess, which also went undiagnosed too long, causing permanent paraplegia.

The Milsons are seeking damages, medical expenses, lost wages, costs of suit and exemplary damages.

They are being represented in the case by attorneys Linda Laurent Thomas and Michelle W. Wan of Thomas & Wan LLP in Houston.
