A woman is suing another driver for injuries she sustained in an accident.
Sharwin Black filed a lawsuit May 4 in the Jefferson County District Court against Mark Beebe, citing negligence.
The lawsuit states Black was waiting in the median area separating traffic lanes on State Highway 247 in Beaumont on Jan. 2 and was waiting to go onto the northbound lanes of traffic when Beebe crossed over the median in his vehicle and struck her vehicle.
The complaint alleges Beebe was driving too fast for the weather, crossed the median and failed to see Black’s vehicle.
Black suffered broken bones, contusions and injured muscles that required hospitalization, the complaint states.
Black is seeking damages up to $500,000 that cover past and future physical pain and mental anguish, medical expenses, disability and disfigurement and lost wage earning capacity.
She is being represented by Paul W. Gertz of the Gertz Law Firm of Beaumont.
