A Jefferson County woman is suing over claims she sustained injuries from an automobile accident.

Consetta Wells filed a lawsuit June 9 in the Jefferson County District Court against Dorothea Lowe Raiford, citing negligence.

Wells claims she suffered injuries when her car was violently struck from behind by a 2009 Nissan driven by the defendant Feb. 1, 2013.

The suit alleges Wells was stopped for a red light at the intersection of Phelan Boulevard and Kennedy Drive in Beaumont when Raiford crashed into her vehicle.

According to the brief, Raiford failed to keep a lookout, failed to timely apply the brakes, was driving too fast and failed to turn to avoid the collision, causing permanent physical impairment.

Wells is seeking damages, interest and court costs.

She is being represented in the case by Beaumont attorney Michael R. Ramsey of Mostyn Law Firm.
