Richmond man sues after injury from wreck on Hwy 146

Red light

A Richmond man is suing over claims he sustained injuries from an automobile accident on Highway 146.

Robert B. Acosta filed a lawsuit June 18 in the Galveston County District Court against Michael C. Fick and Mainland Concrete Inc., citing negligence.

Acosta claims he suffered injuries when his car was struck while driving through an intersection, as he was traveling west on FM 517 Road where it intersects with Highway 146 on Oct. 14, sustaining injuries.

According to the suit, defendant Fick, an employee of Mainland Concrete, pulled out on a red light to go north on Highway 146 Street and made a wide turn, crashing into Acosta.

The suit alleges Fick was not paying attention to the traffic around him and failed to stop at the intersection, resulting in Fick suffering injuries such as lumbar sprain, displacement of intervertebral disc, muscle spasms and backache.

Acosta is seeking damages in the amount of $76,027 and any other relief the court deems just.

He is being represented in the case by Houston attorney David J. LaRue of Loncar and Associates.
