CommunityBank says Anahuac couple failed to make loan payments

A bank claims two Anahuac residents have failed to repay it more than $300,000.

CommunityBank of Texas filed a lawsuit July 18 in the Jefferson County District Court against Joe Mark Schultz and Tyna M. Schultz.

In its complaint, the bank claims it lent $198,000 to the defendants June 12, 2012. It lent the Schultzs an additional $72,000 on July 18, 2012, and $20,000 on March 8, 2013, according to the complaint.

The defendants agreed to make monthly payments on the loan, but have since failed to do so, the suit states.

The total amount owed on the notes as of May 14, 2014, is $322,535.50, the complaint says.

In addition to the money it claims it is owed, the bank seeks late charges, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorneys’ fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.

It is being represented by attorneys Glenn H. Steele Jr. and Craig J. Tahaney II of McPherson, Hughes, Bradley, Wimberley, Steele and Chatelain in Port Arthur.
