A man has filed suit against the driver he claims rear-ended his vehicle.
Juan Fuentes filed suit Aug. 1 in the Jefferson County District Court against Conner Patrick Powell.
According to the complaint, Fuentes was driving in Groves on Jan. 7 when the defendant failed to control his speed and struck Fuentes's vehicle from behind.
Because of the accident, Fuentes suffered physical pain and mental anguish, incurred medical costs and endured physical impairment, according to the complaint. He also lost wages, the suit states.
Powell negligently failed to control his speed, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to properly apply his brakes, failed to keep proper control of his vehicle and followed Fuentes's vehicle too closely, the complaint says.
Powell is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.
He is being represented by attorneys B. Adam Terrell and Steven C. Toups of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont.
