A Galveston hotel is being sued after its manager allegedly had a guest arrested for complaining about the hotel's pool and hot tub.

Linda Guadarrama filed a lawsuit Aug. 15 in Galveston County District Court against Country Inns & Suites Galveston, Dimple Singh, doing business as Country Suites by Carlson, and Country Inns and Suites by Carlson Inc. Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, Guru Ramdass Corp., Dimplejit Kaur and Dimple Singh are also named as defendants.

According to the complaint, Guadarrama rented a hotel room from Country Inns & Suites on Avenue R 1/2 in Galveston in August 2012. Guadarrama says she chose the $240/night hotel over others in the area because of the promise of an indoor pool and spa. However, when she went to the pool Guadarrama alleges she found it uncomfortably cold, while the hot tub was dirty and barely warm.

Guardarrama says she went to the front desk to complain that given the price of the room, all the amenities should be fully functional. She spoke to a man named "Dimple" who allegedly acted as the hotel manager.

When she told him she would take the issue up with the corporate office the next day, Guadarrama alleges the man behind the front desk became extremely angry and immediately called 911.

After she returned to the pool, Guadarrama says several Galveston police officers arrived, ordered her out of the pool and arrested her. She says she was never asked to leave by any hotel personnel before the police were called.

Dimple allegedly told police Guadarrama was threatening him, creating a disturbance and so intoxicated she was a danger to herself and others. Guadarrama denies all of those claims.

She also alleges the parent companies of this particular hotel had received several complaints about its management in the past but did nothing to remedy the situation.

The defendants are accused of negligence, deceptive trade practices, false arrest and wrongful eviction. Guadarrama asks for an unspecified amount of money in damages plus costs of the lawsuit.

She represents herself.
