Beaumont man accused of failing to repay credit card account

A Beaumont man is accused of failing to pay more than $7,500 in credit card debt.

Cach LLC filed a complaint against Ross Bennett III on Aug. 22 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, FIA Card Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of America Corp., issued a credit card to Bennett with the agreement he would be obligated to repay the charges incurred.

In January 2013, the bank says the defendant "defaulted on the obligation to make monthly payments on the credit card account, and the card was subsequently canceled."

The credit card account was charged off to profit and loss by FIA Card Services and sold to Cach LLC. The purchaser says the total account balance was $7,771. It says Bennett has made no payments since the purchase.

Cach accuses Bennett of breach of contract for allegedly failing to pay off the credit card account as agreed. The company is asking to be paid the balance due on the credit card plus interest along with court costs.

Attorneys Richard E. Clark, Fallon Hamilton and Shaun G. Brown represent Cach LLC.
